Wayfair, Inc., et al. in which the State of South Dakota was seeking to collect sales tax from all online transactions, even for businesses without a physical presence in the state. Prior U.S. Supreme Court decisions in 1967 and 1992 only allowed such taxes to be collected on sales from businesses with a physical presence in a given state.
