Squarespace Commerce Integrations

Squarespace offers a number of official integrations built into the platform to help users increase their sites’ power. These built-in tools mean that Squarespace users don’t have to figure out how to incorporate separate apps or integrations for the newest and best resources available today.  Most of the integrations are included in a Squarespace subscription although some do require separate paid subscriptions. The best part is that Squarespace supports all of these integrations with their 24/7 help services for questions and troubleshooting. Today, we’ll take a look at the commerce-based integrations available on the Squarespace platform.

Stripe

Connecting a Stripe account to your website lets your business accept credit cards, debit cards, and Apple Pay. Customers enter their card information directly at checkout. This type of commerce and payment processor is considered a Premium feature and is available in all Business and Commerce plans and established Legacy Personal plans but is not available in new Legacy Personal subscriptions or current Personal plans. There is a caveat that your brand’s product must comply with Section 10.2 of the Squarespace Terms of Service and the products may not appear on Stripe's list of prohibited businesses. Stripe also enables brands to sell subscription products.

PayPal

PayPal is one of the payment processors supported by Squarespace Commerce and simple to connect your PayPal Business account to your Squarespace store. Customers that have a personal PayPal account can use credit or debit cards saved to their PayPal account. Consumers appreciate the security of third-party options and businesses can take advantage of the Seller Protection PayPal offers for qualifying orders to protect themselves from fraudulent orders. PayPal is only available for one-time payments, not subscription products, however, businesses can connect both PayPal and Stripe to offer multiple payment options to their customers.

Apple Pay

Apple Pay integration allows your customers to complete their purchases without having to manually enter shipping or billing information. Apply Pay is visible only to customers using safari on iOS10, macOS Sierra, or a more recent operating system. Apple Pay transactions are processed via Stripe and require no additional setup for businesses utilizing the Stripe integration on Squarespace Commerce. Apple Pay is available as a part of all Business and Commerce plans and established Legacy Personal plans but is not available in new Legacy Personal subscriptions, trial sites, or current Personal plans.

ShipStation

A web-based software, ShipStation prints shipping labels for all major carriers and offers discounted rates on some carriers. It is a separately paid service, billed directly through ShipStation, and available on Basic and Advanced Commerce plans in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and the U.K. This integration allows you to automatically pull orders from Squarespace into ShipStation so labels for UPS, FedEx, and the USPS may be batch printed. Using ShipStation with Squarespace does require the business user to do a few extra tasks to include setting up shipping rates.

Carrier Calculated rates with UPSFedEx, and USPS.

Carrier calculated rates via UPS automatically calculates shipping costs based on current UPS rates and their standard containers. At checkout, the shipping address, package weight, and package dimensions are used to calculate shipping costs. As such, businesses need to provide accurate weight and dimensions for all of their products. Shipping via UPS is available only for shipping within the U.S. and is available on the Advance Commerce plan and some Legacy billing plans.

Carrier calculated shipping rates with FedEx also automatically calculates shipping costs based on current FedEx rates and their standard containers. As with UPS, the package weight, dimensions, and shipping address are used to calculate shipping costs at checkout. Shipping via FedEx is available only for shipping within the U.S. and is available on the Advance Commerce plan and some Legacy billing plans.

USPS carrier calculated rates, again, calculate shipping costs based on current USPS rates and their standard containers. Similarly, package weight, dimensions, and the shipping address are used at checkout to calculate shipping costs.  Shipping via the USPS is available only for shipping within the U.S. and is available on the Advance Commerce plan and some Legacy billing plans.

Xero

Xero is an accounting software that can be integrated with your Squarespace store. Connecting Xero with your Squarespace account triggers an export from Squarespace to your Xero account of the Daily Sales Summary for the previous day's transactions at 1:00 AM EST every day. Similar to ShipStation, Xero is a paid service, billed directly through Xero, and is available only in the U.S. The integration with Xero is available with the Basic and Advanced Commerce plans as well as some Legacy plans. Squarespace does indicate that it holds no responsibility for accounting or tax advice and businesses choosing to utilize this integration must establish their own record keeping of accounts and sales.
